After you set up, we suggest trying out First Steps, a game to help you get comfortable in VR.


  • Make sure both controllers are on and pairing to the headset
  • Confirm your phone’s Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings are enabled
  • Make sure tabs are removed from batteries
  • Make sure batteries are in correctly
  • Make sure you are signed out of all work Microsoft accounts
  • Try using a private browser (incognito mode on Chrome)
  • Try using the browser on your mobile device

If you’re receiving this error, it means that AltspaceVR is attempting to log you in with your Microsoft work account. Try the following steps:

  • Sign out of your Microsoft work account. After signing out, AltspaceVR should no longer be automatically attempting to sign you in, and you should now see the below sign in page:
  • If signing out of your Microsoft work account doesn’t solve the issue, try opening a private window.
    • For Chrome:
      1. Click on the three dots in the top right hand corner of your browser
      2. Locate the “New Incognito Window” button on the drop down menu
      3. Once the “incognito window” is open, you can now create a new Microsoft account
    • For Microsoft Edge:
      1. Click on the three dots in the top right hand corner of your browser
      2. Locate the “New InPrivate Window” button on the dropdown menu
      3. Once the “InPrivate Window” is open, you can now create a new Microsoft account.

  • Double check you are using the correct login credentials
  • Confirm your username was added as a host or group member by emailing support@linktovr.com

  1. Confirm the AltspaceVR Software mic is on
    • When inside of an AltspaceVR environment, find the microphone icon in the 12 o’clock spot in the radial menu and toggle it on (not red with a slash through it)
  2. Make sure recording privileges were given when you initially installed the application
    • Go to the Oculus home screen
    • Open up your app library by clicking the apps icon on bottom right of task bar
    • Hover over the AltspaceVR app, click the 3 vertical dots and choose “Permissions”
    • Toggle the microphone ON (showing blue)
  3. If you recently updated your Quest 2, restart the headset, then try again.
  4. Confirm the hardware microphone is unmuted
    • Go to the Oculus home screen
    • Choose Quick Settings on bottom left of task bar
    • Switch the microphone icon ON (not RED)

  • When Factory resetting the headset without a phone, hold down the power button and the volume button ( -not + ). Once the headset starts booting up and you see the Oculus logo IMMEDIATELY take fingers off buttons so as not to click on “Boot system.” This may take a couple of tries.
